The EHS Drilling Tech will implement, audit and enforce the client companies EHS programs to continually improve their activities while providing ongoing EHS technical support and guidance to the drilling team.  The position requires a broad knowledge and understanding of EHS issues as it relates to oil and gas drilling and completion operations.  Must also have a willingness to travel extensively.


  • Sets a high standard for safety performance while performing the various duties.
  • Works to ensure compliance with Federal, State and Local government laws and regulations and company EHS requirements.
  • Carries out complex EHS assignments independently.
  • Stopping any work when an IDLH safety hazard is identified until all affected parties are made aware of the possible hazard and all reasonable measures have been taken to mitigate the hazard.
  • Consulting with peers and subordinates when they are in doubt as to how to safely approach any work-related job situation.
  • Conduct field safety evaluations and report findings and corrective actions to management.
  • Provides cost effective EHS guidance and recommendations to the Drilling Operations as they strive to safely operate at a maximum economic rate while complying with all regulatory and company EHS requirements.
  • Analyzes EHS regulations, educates peers and coordinates the development and implementation of applicable regulations for compliance.
  • Investigates incidents that impact environment or safety of employees, contractors or the public.
  • Oversee corrective actions derived from an incident investigation.
  • Develops, gathers and maintains EHS data to compose EHS reports and regulatory documents.
  • Participates in EHS field reviews and training programs as may be required.


  • Knowledge of Drilling EHS requirements, rules and regulations including OSHA, DOT (RSPA), and EPA for the Federal and State where the client companies activities are being conducted.
  • Minimum five (5) years of drilling rig operations experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of drilling EHS experience.
  • Requires a thorough knowledge of drilling EHS rules and regulations, best practices and standards.
  • May be required on a relatively short notice to travel to the field location to provide EHS support.
  • High School education or GED.
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Office Suite.
