  • Overview

    Construction Managers provide management oversight for all phases of the construction projects, including coordinating workers, material, and equipment, ensuring that specifics are being followed, and work is proceeding on schedule within budget. The Construction Manager's duties and responsibilities require that they will be both knowledgeable and experienced in all phases of pipeline construction and inspection.


    • Ensures all crew members and field management perform work in a safe manner and models safe work practices.
    • Participates in and performs safety audits.
    • In addition to ensuring housekeeping, storage and work practices are adhered to.
    • Single point of contact with customer on operations issues.
    • Supervises total construction effort, to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule.
    • Oversees performance of all trade contractors and workers and reviews engineering drawings to make sure that all specifications and regulations are being followed.
    • Assumes responsibility for productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials & equipment, and contractual performance of the project.
    • Authorizes and/or approves all project personnel transactions, purchase requisitions, field design change requests, etc.
    • Provides technical assistance, such as interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment as required.
    • Coordinates with project management in developing and implementing project procedures, working documents, standards, etc.
    • Additional duties as assigned.


    • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods, craft agreements, jurisdiction, negotiations, engineering, cost control schedules and safety).
    • Must be familiar with various types of equipment and their capabilities including, but not limited to bore machines, trenchers, plows, dozers, excavators and backhoes.
    • Knowledge and experience of contract administration and contract management.
    • Thorough understanding of industry practices, processes, standards, and their impact on project activities.
    • 10+ years construction industry experience preferred
    • 10+ years natural gas plant/pipeline industry and/or oil/gas industry experience
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Computer skills including spreadsheet and word processing applications preferred.
